Four ceilings that limit a bonus from above
With bonus offers across the industry, you will mainly come across four types of cap. The first caps how much one stake may be during bonus play. The second sets how much of the bonus can ultimately be withdrawn. The third applies to the cashback refund and the fourth to winnings from free spins.
Not every offer has to have all four. At Dukat.bet, however, there are four separate mechanics, namely Slots Bonus, Instant Bonus, Live Casino Bonus (each 500% up to 3,000 EUR + 15% Cashback) and 15% Cashback with no welcome bonus, and each can have its own limits. So do not carry the rules of one offer over to another.
We do not give any specific cap figures for Dukat.bet here. We show how the mechanics work and where to look for them in the rules.
The single-bet limit during wagering
This is the most common reason bonuses get cancelled. While you have an active bonus, the casino usually sets a maximum amount you can bet in a single round: one slot spin, one hand at the table or one round of a crash game.
The rule applies throughout the entire wagering period, not just at the start. A single bet over the limit is enough for the operator, under its rules, to cancel the bonus and all winnings connected to it.
Illustrative example (these are not Dukat.bet terms — check them in the official rules): The bet limit is 5 EUR. You are wagering at 2 EUR and, after a run of wins, raise your stake to 6 EUR. Even if you drop straight back to 2 EUR, that one bet over the limit may be enough for the bonus to be cancelled when you withdraw.
The limit may be written as a fixed amount or as a percentage of the bonus or deposit. If it is a percentage, work out the amount in euros right after activation and play a little below it.
How you can exceed the limit without realising it
Few people go over the limit on purpose. More often it happens through game features that raise your stake automatically or without you noticing.
- Buying a bonus round (bonus buy). Buying free spins costs a multiple of the base stake. One click can take you over the limit, and many casinos ban bonus buys entirely during wagering.
- The ‘gamble’ or double-up feature. Your win is staked again, which may count as a new, higher bet.
- Autoplay with stake increases. A setting such as ‘double after a loss’ will push you over the threshold within a few rounds.
- Side bets at the tables. In live games, the main bet and side bet may be added together.
- Several bets in one round. In crash games, two parallel bets in the same round may form one total amount.
The rules determine whether individual bets in a round are added together. If you do not know, treat the combined total as the limit. We cover the specifics of fast games under the Instant Bonus.
One careless click can cost more than an entire winning streak.
How much of a bonus you can actually withdraw
Some offers in the industry limit the amount that can be converted into withdrawable money once wagering is complete. The cap is usually written as a fixed amount or as a multiple of the bonus. With high percentage bonuses such as 500%, it is worth reading this sentence especially carefully.
The principle can be written simply:
withdrawable amount = the lower of (balance after wagering, withdrawal cap)
Illustrative example (these are not Dukat.bet terms — check them in the official rules): Picture a 200 EUR bonus with a withdrawal cap of five times the bonus, which is 1,000 EUR. After wagering, you have 1,400 EUR in your account. You can withdraw 1,000 EUR, and the remaining 400 EUR is forfeited.
What matters is whether the cap applies only to the bonus portion or to your whole balance, including your own deposit. That changes the outcome considerably. You can work out how the wagering multiplier itself feeds into the calculation in our wagering calculator.
The refund cap on the 15% Cashback
Cashback returns part of your net loss over a given period. Many programmes across the industry have an upper limit on the refund per period, so with larger losses the percentage stops growing.
Illustrative example (these are not Dukat.bet terms — check them in the official rules): Your net loss for the week is 2,000 EUR. 15% of that is 300 EUR. If the refund cap were 200 EUR, you would be credited 200 EUR, which is effectively 10%.
With cashback, also check whether the cap is calculated per day, week or month, and whether the refund is paid as cash or as credit with further conditions. You will find details of the mechanics on the 15% Cashback page.
The winnings limit on free spins
Free spins promotions often have their own cap: winnings above a set amount are trimmed once the conditions are met. We were unable to confirm a standalone spins promotion at Dukat.bet, but if one appears, this sentence in its rules will be the key one. We break down the mechanics in our article on free spins.
One evening with a bonus and three places to trip up
Illustrative example (these are not Dukat.bet terms — check them in the official rules): Take a player with an active bonus, a 4 EUR bet limit and a 1,500 EUR withdrawal cap. They start on a slot at 1 EUR a spin, and all is fine.
After an hour, they are tempted by the button to buy free spins for 80 EUR. First trip-up: the purchase far exceeds the limit, and the rules may ban it outright. They resist, move to a table and add a 2 EUR side bet to a 3 EUR main bet. Second trip-up, if bets in a round are added together.
The third comes at the end. After wagering, they have 1,900 EUR and expect to withdraw the lot. But the withdrawal cap releases only 1,500 EUR.
None of these mistakes required bad intent. All it took was not knowing three sentences in the terms.
The four caps side by side
| Cap | What it applies to | What is at risk or forfeited | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bet limit | A single bet while a bonus is active | Bonus and related winnings cancelled | Bonus rules, section on bets |
| Withdrawal cap | Amount converted after wagering | Any surplus above the cap | Bonus rules, section on payouts |
| Cashback cap | Refund per period | The share of the percentage above the cap | Cashback terms |
| Free spins win cap | Winnings from free spins | Winnings above the cap | Terms of the specific promotion |
The table deliberately contains no figures. Only those in the official Dukat.bet rules, as worded on the day you activate, apply.
Why operators introduce caps in the first place
Without a bet limit, a bonus could be ‘played out’ with a few huge bets: either a quick loss or a big win before the wagering has properly got going. The limit forces you to play in smaller steps, where the normal maths of the game takes effect.
The withdrawal cap, in turn, protects the operator against extreme wins from bonus money. With high percentages such as 500%, a single lucky result could otherwise cost a disproportionate amount.
Understanding the reason helps. Once you know why a cap exists, it is easier to work out where to look for it in the rules.
Checks before your first bet with a bonus
- Find the bet limit and convert it into euros.
- Set your stake below the limit with a margin and switch off automatic increases.
- Find out whether bonus buys and the double-up feature are banned during wagering.
- Check whether bets in a single round are added together.
- Look up the withdrawal cap and find out whether it applies to the bonus or to the whole balance.
- For cashback, find the refund cap and the calculation period.
